Yes! I just started about 2 months ago with my first online bank accounts. It has made it so easy to save and I love the high interest rate. I am hooked.
Now you need to put a complimentary post on good alternatives you can do.
Ones I've heard that might still not be extraordinary, but more appreciated than the above are books (some people go so far as to collect paperbacks over the whole year from garage sale and then hand them out accordingly by age of person) or what I got this year, mini play dohs cups. Also not candy, but still sugary enough that kids may enjoy them are fruit snack bags or fruit leather. Both can be bought in bulk which cuts down the cost.
It's deplorable that you suggest getting as a way to make extra cash, and sad that you glorify a woman who paid for her kitchen remodel through begging. That's not being thrifty; it's dishonest and exploitation. She's a con artist, no better than Bernie Madoff. The people who give beggars money want to help someone in real need, and money given to street cons is money taken away from the true needy.
One more: eat healthier. It may feel like a sacrifice to stop eating junk food, but when you really think about it, you can't miss something you don't eat. When you stop eating junk food, you will laugh at how you used to eat it.
Yes, a purely online checking account called Perkstreet- lots of ATMs and cash back perks when using the debit card as a CC. I'd rather have a B&M checking account, though- much easier to deposit checks.
Yes, I use online banking to save money and time. Most of my communication is electronic. I find it utterly convenient for my bills to be electronic also. Online banking is also a greener option by reducing the amount of paper needed each month.
I use online banking, both for my local bank as well as several savings accounts I have at banks that are online only. It's very convenient to be able to manage almost everything online, with minimal paper and rarely having to even call the bank.
I use online banking daily! I like to manage my debit card purchases in real-time; this keeps my budget up to date and my finances in line! But I've definitely avoided looking at my online banking when I've made a purchase I regret.
i had the same problem...the worst yeast infection EVER!! omg i thought i would never stop itching...although i knew about the garlic clove treatment i didn't want to deal with the terrible dragon breath after a garlic clove tampon. however, after a month of trying every over the counter med you can think of for a yeast infection and nothing worked...i resorted to what works for everything else...GARLIC. I had no more itching almost immediately accompained with a slither of aloe from a fresh leaf. Not even an itch after 24 hrs and no symptoms after 48 hrs. and cured completely after 3 days. I am also the only person in my household who has not been sick in the last year...my dad had pneumonia, daughter had the flu 2x, gf had 2 rounds of a bad cold over the last 8 months....I have not been sick once. They don't want the garlic because of the smell but they eat it up like candy when they do get sick and they did not stay sick for very long. Lastly, of course no company remotely associated with pharmacuticals in any way will say anything fantastic about the curing properties in garlic...they would go out of business. It's only .79 at the grocery store in comparison to the hundreds of dollars for "man made" drugs. Saying that garlic works and everyone should take it instead of penicillin doesn't get the drug companies paid.
Nice list.. All 6 points are great ones! The Quality one I have never thought about and I'll be informing my clients of this point for now on when we start talking about buying new goods verses used goods.
Thanks for stimulating this conversation, and for answering people's comments in a calm and steady way.
As long as we hide from what is happening, nothing will change for the better.
The economic future of today's students does not look good. I asked my son, who will be graduating from college in 2013, why he wasn't at the OWS demonstrations....I suspect he isn't there because the reality of how bad the outlook is has not yet hit home with him. The people who are demonstrating are living that reality, and want positive steps to be taken to improve the situation.
I really like the whole transportation bit there. I agree. Use public transportation is something I try to stress to my clients. If it is possible for them to take the bus, why not? Yes, you have to get up somewhat earlier or may get home somewhat later, but the money you spend on that bus ticket is nothing compared to the amount of money your going to spend STUCK idling in heavy traffic. Great stuff!
I would be lost without online banking! My husband and I work on commission and I have to constantly keep track of the amount of income available to pay bills. We rely on a line of credit, which we replenish as the commission checks come in. Having our regular bills on autopilot saves me a great deal of time, and makes sure that everything gets paid on time.
Yes, I use online banking. I think it's way easier to use online bill pay rather than mail the bills. Online bill pay also saves money on stamps and envelopes.
Internet banking only with an internet bank (ING). I had a brick and mortar bank as well until just recently but closed the account when they started packing on the fees. I now have to pay to use my debit/atm card to access my own money? Sorry but no.
My husband hunts and fishes. I do not thing you can legally sell the meat you bag to anyone. It also isn't THAT cost effective considering the bait, time, licenses, gas, etc. and when it comes to hunting, you almost always need your own land. But it is good recreation and my children enjoy doing it with their dad!
Recommending that sport fishermen/hunters sell their harvest could land them in legal hot water. It's against the law in most places to sell sport-caught fish or wild game. That's the difference between sport and commercial fishing/hunting.
Oh, my goodness, yes! If it weren't for online banking, I'm fairly certain that I would be in the poorhouse. With online banking, I'm able to set up automatic payments for almost ALL of my bills - no late utility or credit card payments! Also, since my paychecks (and child support) are direct deposited, I can check to make sure that those payments have been posted. I also am able to assess immediately how much money is in my account when I am contemplating a major purchase. In addition, I have my account set up to notify me by text if my balance gets below a certain level so that I can avoid writing checks or making payments that will put me in debt. I LOVE online banking.

And gambling? Seriously?

I use online banking because it's quick and easy to make any payments, and I can see my most current transactions at any time.

I totally use online banking - for almost everything. I've turned off paper statements for everything.

I use online banking. I find that I get a better interest rate than from a traditional bank.

Yes, we do and it has proved quite convenient.

Yes, I would be absolutely lost without it and probably paying late fees!!!
