A quick, easy, and economical plant stand can be made from a small stepladder. All takes is a coat of paint (add stenciled designs on the ladder for more personalization) and some colorful pots perched on the rungs and the top of the stepladder.
Great ideas for having a garden in a small space. I have never had much luck growing rosemary inside and never even considered trying to grow mint inside. I may have to give it a shot.
Thank you for your response. Since I do not like "doing" caffeine, your confirmation about decaf Green Tea is very welcome.
Regarding exercise, I started doing two things after meals to help lower blood sugar or lessen the spike of blood sugar. Unfortunately, i started the two items at the same time. The combined results seem to be significant, to say the least. One of those two items was a little, very little, exercise I am quite large, and I have NEVER liked exercise. However, since getting my blood sugar under control, I even have the urge to walk a little bit. The walking is only at 1.3 mph, and I only walk 0.2 mile, but the result seems spectacular. I have not taken blood sugar readings before and after, but my two-hour-after-meal reading is significantly lower, even after eating an identical meal! So I was wondering if even a little exercise may have some bearing on what I am seeing.
I've also used dye to revive clothing...worked like a charm! ...wish I could say that I used a vibrant color, but my old black pants still quite new. =) Btw, thanks for including my article!
Absolutely! It's our civic duty for one thing, but it's also a crucial election -- a nationwide referendum on the current direction of our country. I intend to make my voice heard so those who are meant to represent us know where I stand on the critical issues our country faces right now.
I have found that the decaf green tea to be as efficient as fully caffeinated green tea.
Any amount of exercise can reduce your blood sugar, at least slightly. I've lowered mine by as little as five minutes of very light jogging/fast walking. Alternately, however, depending on the medicine that you are on, exercise can raise your blood sugar - so check before exercising and about ten minutes after to see the difference.
I really appreciated your article here. I have two questions:
1. Do you know if drinking decaf Green Tea will yield the same results as you are experiencing with caffeinated Green Tea, that is, lowering the blood sugar?
2. Regarding exercise lowering the blood sugar, as I have read up on this, it appears that everyone talks about, on the average, doing 30 minutes of exercise to lower the blood sugar. Do you know if doing less than that will lower the blood sugar? Will even, let's say, five minutes exercise lower the blood sugar?
I'll be voting, and will take my five year old with me. And if she asks why I vote, I will tell her that too many people fought and suffered not that long ago, so that we have this right. And anyone who claims that their vote doesn't matter needs to remember how very much it mattered to those who had to fight for the right to cast a ballot. Thanks for letting me vent!
I LOVED purple! Then I loved green...and orange...and red. (I went through the whole rainbow before my 12-year-old self realized it's OK to like more than one color at a time.) I wish I knew how to dye when I was 11 so I could turn that green sweater a navy blue. Instead of, you know, buying another one. :p
Thanks for the link luv! I agree with dying to renew. I have a fond memory of going to the thrift store with my aunt - we bought a jumpsuit and a tiger print belt. When we got home, we dyed that jumpsuit a deep purple. It was my favorite outfit! Yes, I was a teen bopper then. It was all about the purple! ;)

Good tip on the bi-monthly mortgage payment. This is the easiest way to turn a 30 year mortgage into essentially a 15 year mortgage, with the flexibility of making only one payment if needed. Keep the tips coming!
I tricked myself into thinking I make less money than I do.
I used to make around $15 an hour, now I make about $21 an hour. However, when I was making 15, I was able to pay the bills and get by. Now at 21, rather than spend that much more, I put the excess into a long term savings acct. and I still get by on 15. It's a sacrifice in that, I have less money now but I still get by, and I save $5,000 a year(that's the maximum savings allowed in Canada without being taxed). Just an idea that works for me, maybe it can work for you too.
I do pretty much the same thing. It's a great idea. In my case, I get an "extra" check in November so that money is going towards a little out-of-town Christmas shopping trip for my family. Probably wouldn't be able to afford that trip if I saved a little here and there from each check.
Absolutely! I feel it is my responsibility and the least I can do for all of the freedoms I enjoy as a citizen of this country. Thanks for the giveaway!
Great Post! I love reading frugal tips like this! It's amazing how the items we have in our kitchen can do wonders for our skin. I wrote an article with more frugal beauty tips: http://thejennypincher.com/2010/09/30/frugal-beauty-tips-5-household-pan...
I love the herbs idea! Here in Texas, Basil and Oregano are fantastic for small spaces. :-)

I will definitely be voting! Oregon has a hotly contested governor's race plus, as usual, many ballot measures, that deserve much attention.
For sure, I will be voting this election day
Thanks Anita! Have you thought about which Wise Bread writer you would take with you on this trip to Napa Valley if you win?

I am for sure voting, now how I know, I already sent in my ballot!!

I always wanted to try tie-dyeing when I was a kid. Not so much for the tie-dye shirts, but the process just seemed fun and super artsy.
Of course!

Zorcy,
Thanks for the info on the sourmash. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes. cheers.
