Of course I'll be voting, I haven't missed an election since being eligible to vote at 18! Though, I'll admit, I've been more excited about elections than this one.
I used to vote by absentee....but now it has become a lesson for my kids. I bring them in with me and they learn that it is something that "all" adults get to do. It has occassionally been a somewhat embarrassing process. My son who was Kindergarten age at the time of the presidential election learned about it in school....and he kept loudly announcing who HE was going to vote for.
I love the idea of dying to revive old clothes. I once had a Firetrap denim jacket which cost me a lot of money at the time. It faded really quickly and looked hellish after a few months. I bought some navy blue dye and redyed it in the washing machine bringing it completely back to life. It lasted for another two years.
I also remember at school we were taught how to tie-dye. Great fun, but I seem to recall the mess was pretty horrendous.
Whether or not I am "enthusiastic" about the candidates running, I vote in every election. These elected leaders make the decisions that affect my life every day, and I absolutely want a say in that. Considering the hardships that women endured to be allowed to vote, I do not take it for granted.
I know ohhh the horror of it all. I graduated and actually got a job. I went to school and my degree actually meant something. There was still a such thing as the American Dream.
I vote in every major election, and this year I am researching the candidates. IL has had to many problems with its elected officials for people to sit back and not participate.
It may not be 100% informed, but I know enough to know what I want to do.
Anyone that says they won't should be ashamed of themselves.....and also forfeit their right to complain about just about anything in this country until they decide to vote!
In a dual agency situation, the listing agent's primary fiduciary duty is still to the seller, not the buyer. In reality, given the absurd compensation mechanism for real estate transactions, if an agent represents both buyer and seller, the agent's REAL focus is going to be making sure the deal gets done so they can get paid extra commission, even if it is .5% more. They may fudge on their fiduciary duty a little because of the extra financial incentive. Bottom line - the buyer ends up making the biggest purchase of their life thinking they have representation that is just as good, and that could backfire. An $8,000 "savings" could be a drop in the bucket if there is a serious issue with the property.
I'll be voting, if only to uphold my beliefs that the justice system should be free from political bent. I live in Iowa, where three of the state justices are up for a renewal vote. Many seek to punish them for being "activist" after passing the judgement that it is unconstitutional to ban gay marriage. Rather than collecting campaign contributions that may weaken the freedom of the justice system, they are taking the high road and allowing the people to speak on their behalf. :) I always love a good cause.
What a bizarre post. A money blog should know better than anyone that choices have to be made to balance the budget and reduce the deficit. Where is the comparison to how it will hurt you if the taxes are NOT raised? The presentation of this argument makes it sound like these taxes are a whim. Some of these points are less than trivial.
I had been considering unsubscribing to WiseBread because I get similar information from other blogs/newsfeeds. This nonsensical post just may be the clincher....
I love my programmable thermostat! Like the article mentioned it's super easy to install and program. I'm not sure exactly how much money I'm saving but I can imagine it's a lot!

If you don't vote you can't complain and I don't see not complaining about something that's being done so I guess I'll just have to vote.
I've voted in every election since I turned 18. No sense it messing with my perfect record. I'll stop to vote on my way to work on election day!

They had tax breaks for eight years. By your logic, the two recessions under Bush should never have happened. But they did. Nothing trickled down.

Some great stuff here. Its a buyers market at the moment, so homeowners need to give their house a 'special edge' in order to get a quick sale.
Being realistic with the price is also something to consider, what an estate agent says a property is worth is usually highly overvalued.
I mailed in my absentee ballot a couple of weeks ago.
I will be voting on Nov 2 for governor, congressman and Senator.
