Be careful using your bare finger to check for sharp objects. You could get cut by a piece of glass. I would recommend a visual inspection or use a gloved finger.

Dual agency can get you representation, depending on the definition by state and is different than Intermediary or transactional broker. Dual agency is practiced when two agents in one office represent each the buyer and seller, a third agent, maintains the confidences. I am licensed in 4 states, dual is dual. Each is represented, as much as the honor of the agent allows. Intermediary or transactional is not an agent or representative yet still an agency relationship. They do not negotiate, they are required to maintain confidences of both parties, buyer and seller, in a specific set of confidences which vary slightly state to state, but basically, why you are buying or selling, what you will buy or sell for other than that in writing, and any material information unless required by disclosure. Buyers and Sellers should be pro-active, they are their own best advocate. Ask the person across the desk who they are working for, then ask for it in writing. Have them circle on the brokerage disclosure the relationship they are telling you they have.
I would say the best bet is to open an account with a credit union, and some credit unions will allow you to open an account online. Regardless, you can do all your banking through direct deposit, online bill, ATM deposits/withdrawls, and all of it can be done fee free quite conveniently. Not to mention that their savings rates are typically better than a bank...I would say 99% of the time!
If you don't want to buy in massive quantities - you can also shop at Smart & Final - originally for restaurants and so on, it has good deals in basic items & also large sizes of staples.
Use the old corks for a laptop "stand" to keep it from overheating. I use 2 corks taped together on the bottom left of the laptop & one on the other side to balance it out. I have read that you can use synthetic corks as erasers, but i haven't tried that yet.

That said, it's irrelevant if they're upside down & your agent shouldn't be looking at that. All that is important for you as a buyer is the market value and what you want to offer. The seller can acept those numbers or not.

Good ideas here, but styrofoam egg cartons aren't a good choice for freezing food. Donate egg cartons to people who sell eggs, scout leaders, day care centers or schools for art projects. Old socks with the toes cut off make great arm warmers/snow protectors for young children. Keep a plastic shopping bag on the kitchen counter when cooking and put all your food waste in there as you prepare your meal. When your're done cooking, wrap it up and throw it away.
I hope this book has LESS than his other books, because it focuses quite narrowly on getting out of debt. (There's nothing on budgeting, for example, or on saving for retirement.) If debt is a big issue for you, this book provides a lot of useful advice for dealing with that issue in particular.

Everyone from economists on down. Economists are paid to make such predictions, but don't get it right any more than anyone else.
Still, he was probably thinking of interest rates in a broader sense. I don't track them day to day, but I know that they have been historically low for some years. I also expect that they will not go much higher. However, as potential mortgage customer, you were tracking the rates in greater detail. Every basis point is money in or out of your pocket, so when they "spiked," to you that was going "somewhere." For most of us, they have not. I don't when if or when my savings will ever earn 2% again.

Honestly, I'm surprised some of those midwest cities are on there given the snow storms they had this past winter...and every few years it seems like. I'd take the small chance of a volcano that may or may not reach the Seattle area, with zero threat of hurricane or tornado which are fairly regular occurrences in other parts of the country, and minimal chance of tsunami as the Olympic Mountain range would prevent it from reaching 9/10 of the state, and a "huge" snowstorm for us amounts to about 5" which sticks around for maybe 4 or 5 days if we're lucky

Love your idea for the shoes boxes! I am a huge shoe diva myself and have so many pairs that I haven't even worn once.
I save the boxes that merchandise comes in from online shopping and re-use them for shipping out stuff that I sell on eBay.

Pretty much everything I buy is on sale. When I look at non-sale prices I'm sometimes startled to see how much people spend every day.
I plan off paying off some bills, put some in saving and taking my grandkids on a mini outing.
90% of the time I only buy on sale:)
