  • 25 Tips for Smart (and Safe) Credit Card Use During the Holidays   13 years 38 weeks ago

Wow!! This article was really insightful. I learned a lot from it. I think the article is perfect because this is time where people are going Christmas shopping. I was just at the mall a few weeks ago. The checkout lines were long and the parking lot was packed. All of these tips were great however your 5th tip stuck out the most. Normally lots of contest takes place because it’s the holidays and any way a person can save money they will. However, I did not even think of the importance that the contest can have when it comes to harming my computer. I never do contest online but I will definitely inform people about the risks.

  • 7 Ways to Have a Better Day at Work   13 years 38 weeks ago

Planning ahead sometimes is easier said than done sometimes. There have been plenty of times when I started my car and noticed that my car was on empty. I would then have to stop to fill it up before my day began. I thought to myself that if I would fill my tank before it goes down to empty, I would not have to worry about filling it up the next day to start my day. That would be an extra 5-10 minutes that I can other stuff done for that day. Great article!!!

I workout at home--running on the treadmill while watching shows I've missed on Hulu.com. No more gym memberships, no more babysitters, no more having to rent movies.

I also visit a local running store to get fitted for new shoes, but then I'll head online to purchase them, usually through zappos.com. I got my last pair of Mizunos ($140 in store) for less than $100 on zappos.

  • Homemade Dog Food: Recipe and Cost   13 years 38 weeks ago

I have been feeding home cooked to my pup for a while now. She looks great has tons of energy and really looks forward to her food. If the meat is a cost issue for some, consider 1/2 the amount of meat and add lentils for protein. They are very healthy. I also cook dried beans (be sure they are mashed and mixed in well for digestion) do this a little at a time in first couple batches to be sure your dog can ea beans. Just like us they take getting used to. my pup does great with them.
Please consider feeding cooked food. when I was young we fed table scraps all the time. Our dogs were healthy and long lived. We have been told thats bad for them. Now they are riddled with health and skin issues and cancer is more common then ever.

  • How to Answer 23 of the Most Common Interview Questions   13 years 38 weeks ago

"Let's talk about salary. What are you looking for?"

This has always been a super tricky question to answer so I appreciate the good advice you've offered about not laying it all out right upfront & taking a slightly different approach.

  • How Rewards Cards Make Money   13 years 38 weeks ago

It doesn't surprise me to read that credit cards make you overspend. I've been in situations before where I was unsure of buying something but then thought, "I'll get 500 points for this!!", get excited and buy the item. It's hard, but you really have to separate the two in order to make wise financial decisions.

Spinning at the cycle park 2x a week after work and mountainbiking during the weekends. I push myself to walk (20-30mins) to the train station instead of taking a 3 min. cab. to and from work. It's not perfect but I'm getting better!

I love working out for free outdoors especially hiking, biking and running. I use this website to find beautiful local hikes where I can do all of these activities:

Also, the webpage says Orange County, Los Angeles, and Riverside but it will display all local hikes for any zipcode you enter!

  • How Rewards Cards Make Money   13 years 38 weeks ago

Am a guest, I have maybe 10 rewards cards, I have no balance ever, I never buy on impulse, just my regular usual purchases, I maximize the 5% cash back when I can, examples, a recent conference to Philadelphia cost me and my family over two thousand dollars, 900 on delta sky miles card got me three checked bags for free for a total of 150 dollars over a return trip saved + 50000 miles worth 500 dollars + double miles, 1500 in hotel fees got me 7500 points on chase, that's 75 dollars, and citi bank gave me 5 % on my car rental from hertz, all have been paid off, so I made nearly 250 dollars from my trip that I would have made anyway, so you see I don't buy your argument, I do know exactly how much I owe on each and when it is due, so no one is gaming me, I have never paid interest on a card, neither ever a penalty for late or missed payments, never had one
