Thanks for the giveaway...there are two Thanksgiving comfort foods that I look forward to enjoying: steamed broccoli with a homemade creamy cheese sauce, and a homemade herb bread dressing made with onions, celery, & sausage. A large helping of each with a turkey leg are all I need !
#1 Turquoise & Silver Jewelry Cleaner I'm over 70 yrs old. For over 40 yrs have been using plain white toothpaste to clean my Turquoise & Silver jewelry. ( SW Indian) Almost any other type of jewelry cleaner will pit turquoise. Toothpaste is safe to use on turquoise. As far as I know it cleans/shines any type metal jewelry. It's all I use on any/all of my jewlery. I also keep/use an old soft toothbrush just for cleaning jewelry.
#2 Another tip-different catagory. Months ago you had a section on camping & out door plumbing (or lack of) One thing my mother & grandmother did was a early day recycling tip. After cleaning the ashes out of the wood stove (or from campfire) the bucket was set in the outhouse with an old cup or scoop in it. After using the outhouse each person sprinkled a cup/scoop of the ashes over the "deposit"; to help control odor. Lye was not always available; ashes were always available, & free! They work surprisingly well.
I look in my local dumpsters for e-waste. I have found every thing from ham radios to laptop pc's. Sold the ham for 600.00 not bad 2 hours worth of diving. I have made several thousand dollars repairing and reselling this stuff.
Thanks for the tips. I think recycle everything I can. What is really cool is that some of my habits are starting to rub off my friends especially when I mention that I made a little money. That always gets their attention.
Absolutely not shopping. Online or in person. I can't stand the crowds in stores. And all the Web sites are slower than usual. I opt to just stay in and enjoy my family.
There is no way I'm going to be standing in lines or in a brick and mortar store this Friday. I will most likely take a look online for a bit on Friday and Monday though! Nothing like avoiding the crowds and getting a good night's sleep after eating too much turkey! Best of luck everyone!
No way! I know some people thrive on the "festive" crowded atmosphere but I dislike large crowds of people and I also dislike shopping. I've done most of my shopping online this year or I go to stores when I know they won't be crowded.

By the enc of the school year (I am a teacher) I hope to have saved $10,000 toward buying a house.
I love the mashed potatoes and turkey gravy. Those are my favorite side dishes and they are inexpensive, too. Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!

My favorite turkey day comfort food is--and always will be--sweet potato casserole. The beauty of the dish is that sweet potatoes are still cheap!

The crowds are definitely a nightmare. I agree, if you can get the same deal without leaving your home, might as well avoid going out to shop!
I know what you mean! I'm not a fan of getting up early to shop either.
