Great article! I've got a cold sore tingling below the surface and as a long-time sufferer, I'm doing all I can to prevent it from erupting. I wanted to mention that I do take L-Lysine. When I take it regularly, I don't get any outbreaks at all. When I quit taking it (I get tired of taking any kind of pills after a while), and I get stressed, I can feel one coming on. Then I take at least 3 pills per day, spread out through the day, sometimes even one in the night if I happen to wake up. Sometimes, if I simply can NOT reduce my stress soon enough, I will take 2 at a time for the first dose of the day for a couple days. I've found this really does work. I'm not a natural health nut ... I've just done a lot of research into this and found that lysine is an amino acid that your body uses to fight cold sores. If your diet hasn't provided enough, supplementing it helps. I've learned a lot from researching how my diet affects my outbreaks ... things to avoid: nuts, coffee, chocolate, sugar. With all due respect to your relative, there is such a vast difference between making an argument based on proportional logic as it pertains to reality and playing "gotcha" while making incorrect assumptions about reality.
The former is 2 + 2 = 4 and the latter is 2 = 2 = purple jellyfish. Many folks in the US these days are only capable of the latter while you are clearly capable of the former.
No surprise to find reasonable frugality running concurrent with logical thinking. One must be able to operate with 2+ 2 = 4 to get there.
The worst money mistake I ever made was not setting up a budget. I totally did not know I was going to be jobless this summer and still have bills to pay. Another mistake was getting a credit card. I am not using it right and now I have a little debt to add to that. The third mistake was not shopping around and getting the best price for items.
As far as I'm concerned, Zojirushi make the best rice cookers on the planet! I've been using the Zojirushi NP-GBC05 heavily for the last five years. This is a 3 cup Induction Heating rice cooker similar to the NP-HBC18 above. I recently purchased a Zojirushi Induction Heating + Pressure rice cooker however, even though it is a "better" rice cooker, I can't really tell the difference in the quality of rice it makes.
If you want to eat lots of rice, in my opinion, you should definitely go for an Induction Heating rice cooker.

LIKE NEW. I used Armour Etch on the inside lens of my **expensive** SuperFocus glasses. As of when I purchased my glasses, the interior lens (attached to the soft lens on the other side) IS polycarbonate. I put on a few drops, didn't smear, but covered the entire lens. Five minutes. All scratches (and all coating) gone, with just a few seconds of warm water to rinse the Armour Etch away. Be careful, take your time, and be sure you have polycarbonate lenses. This works if you don't rub.
I agree that a long-term investing strategy is the way to go. In the past, I traded stocks on a regular basis, and while I made decent money in the short-term, I decided to change my strategy since I knew there's no way I could sustain those types of returns in the long run. Be smart, play it safe, and invest over the course of many years – don't be looking at your portfolio!
I use my Amazon card mainly for Amazon purchases, but also have my college attending daughter on the card, in case she needs something I would normally pay for when I am not around. This is also a high-interest card, so thankfully I am now able to pay it in full at month's end. Couple this with Amazon Prime (discounted for college students) and you can save a good deal of money!
My mother also carries the Old Navy Visa with myself and my children on the card (20 and 25). She treats my daughter to some clothes a couple of times a year, but the most we use it is to pick up fast food every Sunday. Me being on the card me to pick up and take food to her and my father, allowing her to pay but not leave the house. My son doesn't need the card, but she insists on him having it in an emergency, and being a Visa it has helped us all at one time or another.
My point is that you receive Old Navy bucks by using this card. I don't know what the earning levels are, but we (my Mom, but as she is 75, she passes these to my daughter) receive probably $100 bucks a year to use at Old Navy or The Gap! Comes in very handy!
I have a Victoria's Secret store card. I don't do a lot of business there, but I shop Bath and Body Works, especially for the semi-annual sale. You can use the VS card at BBW store! I always pay it off, and it works out fine. At this time, you can't use the VS card on-line at BBW. I hope they change that soon. Between the free panties and BBW free travel size items coupons I receive in the mail, I receive a $10 VS gift card on my birthday and some other times. It is a card worth having, just pay it off, because the interest is over 20%.
I think that, too often, people try to make frugality a "one size fits all" kind of thing. I recently told a friend that my husband and I would love to stay in a nice (expensive) resort in town for a night sometime, maybe when we have kids and a farther trip is harder to pull off. She thought that disproved my frugality, and that I was incredibly foolish for thinking of spending that kind of money when I won't go out to dinner more than once a month.
People don't seem to realize that true, healthy frugality looks different for everyone. We each have things that we care about more than other things, and everyone has different splurges that are rewarding to them. It is not even remotely difficult for my husband and me to skip the alcohol most of the time, but we love experiences and love to travel. This is no less frugal than our other friends who eat the same 7 meals every week but pay ridiculous amounts of health insurance for their dog. As long as it is in the context of being intentional and reaching our long-term goals, I think we should each be free to decide what is most important to us, whether it looks crazy to everyone else or not.
Along the lines of thinking logical, always ask yourself, what good can come out of this particular action? I see so many situations where people do something and then they are surprised by the negative result. If you respond in an aggressive or negative way, what do you expect to happen?
Starting grad school a week before finding out we were pregnant -- and then waiting to withdraw until AFTER the you-don't-get-your-money-back date. Over $5000 for two classes that I never finished. Ugh.

I had my car inspected at a chain mechanic shop and did not know that in NY State, you didn't have to have the required repairs done at the garage that does the inspection. Had I known that at the time, my local mechanic would have charged half what I paid at the national chain garage. As it was, I depleted my short term savings, which I'm trying to rebuild now.
I need to do this I have a tendency to keep lots of old things. Me and my friend r going in my room and cleaning it out bye bye stuff I never use then ill help her do the same thing to her room. Thanks
I paid for a new car in cash, then traded it in less than two years later. I lost half the value on the trade and it took me 6 years to pay off the new car.
Your totally right here if you can take your time when travelling or vacationing you do not have to fit everything in to 2 weeks and you adapt your way of living for such a longer time length so you spread the cost out and keep expenses to a minimum. I much prefer it like this because you get time to indulge yourself in wherever you are and get a real feel for a place.

Same here! My trick is to put it in the microwave for a few seconds - it comes out really soft like fresh bread again!
