Going to law school for one year, but deciding it is not the career you want. I decided to enter the working world, but now I have loans for a career I am not pursuing.
Good advice, Julie. It really comes down to this question: Are you a trader or an investor? A trader tries to time the market, which is impossible. An investor takes a long-term view, realizing that occasional corrections are to be expected and not feared.
The worst money mistake I made was loaning money to my brother a few years back. I still haven't been repaid and I've had to forego various different opportunities since that money wasn't available to me. Never again!!
I have two cats and if I attempt to bathe either one of them for any reason, they fight for the next 2-3 days, as I think they see the other as smelling different and use their nose over their eyes when it comes to recognition.
I don't use crock pot liners because it seems to me that warming up a piece of plastic into your food for a few hours might not be the best idea?
I learned the thing about the privates as well. Without going into too many details, I was washing a g/f and was told 'Umm..no soap.'
When I was a young man of 19 and in the Navy My best friend from high school who was a civilian and worked construction got laid off and asked for a loan. I made his 333.00 a month car payments for three months for him. I then went home on leave (vacation) and stayed with him for two weeks. It was 1986 and mario brothers home video game had just been released; I sat down and played a few games with him but could not figure it out. My best friend was hounding me for missing hidden coins and hidden tunnels. I thought I was dumb I could not figure this game out and he was an expert. Later I found out that while I was making his car payment he was sitting at home playing videos games. He never did repay me the loan. I stopped talking to him and twenty years later he finds me on faceboook and asks me to move to Indianana to keep him company. Help a man out when he is in trouble and next time he see's you he will ask for more help even when he can do it himself!
One suggestion is to ignore what's going on in the stock market. If you've decided to stay invested, then you don't have to look at every day's movement or even open up investment statements.
Another way is to get excited about the opportunity to keep investing and take advantage of lower prices.
I'm not sure if your question was answered, but I was reading somewhere that adding someone as an 'authorized user' to your credit card account will improve their credit score. Adding her will not damage your credit score as long as the credit utilization stays low and payments are made on time. Now - if she uses the card and forgets to tell you how much she charged, that could drive your credit utilization up = lower credit score. Even if you pay off your credit card in full each month, getting too close to your credit limit will hurt your score.
Also, I would encourage her to sign up for www.CreditKarma.com
It's *FREE*(no gimmicks & no cc needed), will show your credit scores, and has tons of articles about how to manage/improve your credit!
With the CD "personalization" scam, as soon as they write anything, yell out,
"You spelled my name wrong!" That worked for me in Jamaica with a vendor who wrote my name on a bracelet.
I did have someone approach me at a gas station for gas money and I told him to pull up at the next pump and I would put $20 in my car and $10 in his. When the car never materialized, I figured he was saving up for a car.
I called US Cellular today about Bingaroo charges. I was told that they would not refund my money and they could not put a block on my account for these kinds of unauthorized charges. My experience with their service reps is they are poorly trained and incapable of providing helpful information.

Uh, is it just me or does this list not say 10 things you don't need to clean? Yet, their are only 9 listed. What am I missing?

Worst money mistake: purchasing our first house too soon

Best of luck!
I let a friend borrow too much and never got paid back.
My worst money mistake was paying full price, in cash, for a Mercdes Benz SUV and not negotiating a single discount with the dealer!!!
Trading in my paid off vehicle
Loaning money to immediate family. It devastates your bank account and your relationships.
having to break a lease was my worst money mistake!

Taking a car loan on something we really did not need!
My worst money mistakes are probably a number of eBay auctions. Sometimes "winning" isn't all its cracked up to be.
getting into a big credit card debt.
Hi, Olivia! I haven't ever had Cuban bread, so I googled a recipe: (http://www.tasteofcuba.com/pancubano.html). It sure looks good! Thanks for mentioning it.
Hi, Mary! Me, too (prefer homemade). Tx for commenting!
