The 5 Best Electric Blankets

ShareThis

Whether you need a little extra warmth for those cold winter nights, or if it's cold all year-round, an electric blanket is a great thing to have when it's just a little too chilly outside. When buying an electric blanket, there's a few things to keep an eye on, such as being made of machine-washable materials and easy-to-use controls. Additional features to consider include a range of heating settings as well as an automatic shut-off.

What is an Electric Blanket?

An electric blanket is a blanket that has an electric heating element worked into the blanket that can be used to provide additional warmth. An electric blanket goes on top, as opposed to an electric mattress pad which lies below the bottom bed sheet and is designed to be slept on top of. Modern electric blankets have come a long way from their older counterparts in terms of safety and are less likely to be considered fire hazards.

The Blankets on sunbeam hold up but the controls do not. At one time they would replace the bad controls for free. Now they want to charge you almost as much as a new blanket. I haven't had a sunbeam last 2 years and we live in the south so it doesn't get as much use as it would if we lived in the north. I haven't seen anyone discuss the controls.

I would have to completely disagree with you. They make some of the finest controls ever. Mine have lasted over 20 years and I live in the northwest! Simply the BEST!
