Do you write like a girl?

Based on some of the comments we get around here, it's safe to say that some of you might suspect me of possessing my very own pair of cajones. Attached ones, that is. Not, like, in a jar or something. Sicko.

Well, it turns out that there might be something to that. No, no, I'm not a man. Not even part man. Sure, I can beat you in an arm-wrestling competition without even using my arms, but I'm all woman, baby. Only apparently, I write like a man.

Ask the readers: What charities do you give to?

Posted 2 years ago by Troy Hadley

My last post on giving made me think a bit about... well, giving. My train of thought, fortunately, is easy to track.

I give a good deal of money to charity every year, enough so that the monetary amount actually affects my tax returns (in a good way). I was just thinking about all of the places that I give to, and since some people started posting other charities in the last blog post, I thought I'd just out and out ask: who do you give to?

Because I'm really dig critters, be they fuzzy or bald, small or huge, I give to the following organizations on a regular basis:

Money Metaphors (You wouldn't punch a kitten, would you?)

Personal Finance, Extra Commentary

Money, to me, is often something to just be tossed at problems. I don't look at my receipts after buying groceries. I don't worry about being charged too much, since I figure that carefully studying my receipts makes me look petty. In fact, this is an attitude that gets me nowhere. I don't protect my money. Maybe I would if I thought of it like a kitten.

20% drop in US CD sales shows the power of the music fan

CD grave

I don't like buying albums, for one reason. Most of the time, they're a mixed bag. Some great tunes, some good tunes, some poor tunes. That's why I love ITunes. I can cherry-pick the songs I like and leave the rest behind. 99 cents a song? Thanks, I'll take four. Well, it looks like I'm not alone, because CD sales are down. Wayyyyyy down.

Thanks for the mammaries!

I've always wanted to say that.

Now, in addition to I-must-I-must-I-must-increase-my-bust exercises, push-up bras, and pricey implants, you can increase breast size by stimulating the mammary glands using all natural ingredients: lavender and tea tree oils! Just apply, and presto! Instant gynecomastia.

Malaria-Resistant Mosquito: Frugal Research or Future Pox?

Posted 2 years ago by Andrea Dickson

File this one under "Wow, that's a great idea... or is it?"

Scientists at Johns Hopkins University have developed a mosquito containing a gene that makes it resistant to the malaria virus. The idea is not so much concern for mosquitos' health, but hope that a malaria-free mosquito population might fare better than malaria-prone mosquitos, thus halting the spread of this dangerous and deadly disease.

Is this the end of YouTube?

YouTube

GoogleWatch , one of my fav blogs about one of my fav resources, reported today on the $1billion lawsuit served to Google by Viacom . And so did almost every other news network around. I found over 1400 stories on it...this one is big it seems. One of the main rumblings I heard about the YouTube boys selling to Google was fear of a huge lawsuit, which they didn't have the funds to fight, but Google does. Hmmm.

Warning: While no one appears to be injured, the last part of the video does show the suspect resisting arrest and getting subdued by the police with pepper spray and a baton. Viewer discretion is advised.
