"...I don't feel like I actually accomplish anything worthwhile, and I feel my team does not get the respect and attention that it deserves."

LOL, so how much respect and attention does "not accomplishing anything worthwhile" deserve?

  • Details of Obama's mortgage plan released - Will you benefit?   17 years 6 weeks ago

i am a responsible home-buyer - i bought within my limits (not what the bank said i could afford). i just lost my job - my wife's small business tanked (i live in MI) - we NOW can't afford it. we've cut back on everything we could think of (yeah - we still have internet). we drive VERY used cars. i am current on ALL my bills. i have paid many different taxes - personal/business. now it's time to get some back....

if the gov't gonna give handouts - i am gonna be in line for it... when/if jobs come back here - i will be first in line to get AWAY from this deal. i will get a REAL mortgage ASAP.

and yes - i am against giving the banks bailouts - just as i am against the automotive bailouts (my job was automotive related). but again - if i am going to have to pay into this kind of thing, as i have for 20-some years, i figure i am due some...

Once I know how to network stuff, how long will it be before I accidentally bring about the development of Terminators? I know how this works--I've seen the movies! Still, it would be handy....

  • Laid Off? You May Have to Fight for Unemployment Benefits   17 years 6 weeks ago

Early January I was terminated from my position and I immediately filed for unemployment. I was denied but I appealed in writing and just now was notified that I have been approved. My question is do I get the back pay from the first time I had called into Marvin? I faithfully called in every other week at my designated time and reported to work first and have been actively looking for a new job. My estimate would be about 4 checks. Any info would be great

  • Top 6 Reasons Why Using Cash-Only Rocks   17 years 6 weeks ago

You know Bob, it is better for a male especially to not have a fat wallet. My hubby was having hip and low back problems, doc told him to quit sitting on a fat wallet it causes the spine to go out of whack. So, now hubby will carry his wallet, but he puts his cash in a front pocket. Course you could also do like hubby, if you're married, for some reason I always end up carrying his wallet, keys etc in my purse when we are out together. Then he grumbles my purse is so heavy--++GEEZ i wonder why

  • Could you determine someone's creditworthiness by his or her looks?   17 years 6 weeks ago

Judging if someone is credit worthy solely by a picture I don't think is possible. Meeting face to face is a little easier. When you talk to someone you get a sense of their personality. If someone is dressed neat, has general knowledge of personal finance, and seems to be overall a more conservative individual they will probably have better credit. On the other hand if someone seems to live for the moment wears expensive flashy clothing and doesn't have basic knowledge about finance I would say their credit is probably lower. There are exceptions the first person "the conservative person may have lost their job and as a result their credit score has lowered because of a few missed payments. The person who "lives for the moment" may be a free spirit but perhaps is a sucessful screen writer and has professionals manage his or her finances.

  • The end of a recession versus recovery   17 years 6 weeks ago

A number of things have happened in the last couple of years that have caused people to be cautious in their spending. For the most part, these things have already happened. There is no reason the think that people will get any more worried than they are right now.

Most people are still working. Most people are still paying down debts and saving money. Those people will eventually have enough money saved that they will feel secure in spending for a few of the things they have been putting off.

Those people who pay attention to price/earnings ratios will tell you that the stock market has been overpriced for a generation. Now, stocks are priced at a discount. Those of us who have been on the sidelines can finally start buying stocks for the long run. That's what I'm doing.

  • What’s the difference? Your Debt Questions Answered   17 years 6 weeks ago

Consumer debt is a term that can have slightly different meanings depending on the context. Typically, consumer debt refers to any debt that is taken on by an individual as opposed to a business. For it to be business debt, the borrower must be the business. Only the most established businesses qualify for credit, so quite often the borrower is an individual even though the purpose of the loan may be business-related..

It's not gonna work on a bike tank. Some people have had good luck popping the tank off, filling it with water, and freezing it. I haven't tried it myself.

  • Top 6 Reasons Why Using Cash-Only Rocks   17 years 6 weeks ago

I like using cash but for me credit card is more convinient. I hate carrying coins in the pocket after some purchase. And also, I like my wallet to be as thin as possible.

  • What’s the difference? Your Debt Questions Answered   17 years 6 weeks ago

There are some excellent tips in that broadcast. The main thing people should shoot for (and they will likely have challenges with) if they're going to consolidate is getting it bundled under a low rate.

Money is cheap now but your history better be spotless. Like Mr. Clean spotless.

@Guill - Of course! I have showered using this method in Asia, but it is usually arrestingly cold water. What a great way to save water and be conscious of your usage at the same time (and a little warm water makes it easier too)!
