Are we getting a kickback from AAA here? These discounts are really misleading. The Target/Kohl's is online and Dell is also with caveat. Let's not trot out something without providing the always important *context*.
I agree that this article is misleading. The Dell 30% discount is only on select (high-end) systems from Dell.com, and coming down from MSRP, you would probably do better to buy the system you actually want in a brick and mortar store. Don't get me wrong...I'm a AAA member, and I love my Dell computers, but be clear about the facts.
@Kate
At first I was also bothered by the airline fees. However, I think it actually reflects more about the consumers than the airlines. When buying tickets we only think about the ticket price. Airlines know if they include it in the price, some will pass them over for a 'cheaper' airline.
@Creditshout
I actually do something similar to Michele (comment below). Since we frequently visit family in Canada and Wyoming, we are slowly starting to get a second wardrobe at each place.
@JB
I just did a quick check at the US Postal site and sending a 40 pound bag (TX-WY) would cost $26 and you would have to wait 5 days. Getting it in 2 days is $52. I think people would be better off paying the $25 (average) charge.
@Tp
Good point. If you have specific clothing requirements, it would be hard to expect to find anything.
@David and Oliva
I thought about including something like that, but decided most people have trouble keeping bags to the 50 pound limit without any space saving tips. However, using ziplock bags is a great way to keep your clothes in better shape and protects them in case anything explodes in your bag.
@Oliva
I agree. Often people 'stumble on' good deals at second hand stores. When you know you NEED to buy it, then you'll probably spend more than normal.
@Michele
I do the exact same thing - scatter clothes across the country. On a recent trip to North America, I picked up some wamer clothes that I left in Canada last time I was there and I left a suit in Houston. Eventually, I'll probably need to rent a Uhaul and drive around the country picking up all my clothes.
We've been seeing more and more police cars and state patrol cars out lately. This last winter my husband got pulled over less than a block from the house on his way to work. He got a warning for failure to yield to the car on the right at an intersection. The cop car was behind a snowbank on the corner that was piled so high you couldn't see him. When the cop walked up he asked my husband if he felt like losing $100 that night.
Then about a month ago we were driving home from my parents on the interstate and passed some construction and something in the road caught the underside of our car and we found out when we got back into town about 20 minutes later that it must have pulled loose some wiring in the lights. We got pulled over twice on our not even 5 minute drive from one side of town to the other for having a headlight out.
Needless to say we're both even more cautious and wary of cops and driving now than we were before.

Thanks for this worthy suggestions. Try to have a good relationship with 401k administrators, and clear your doubts regarding the plan. Proper inspection and monitoring is necessary to get maximum returns out of your plan.
If you get a ticket, contest it! Most county court websites will have instructions for how to plead 'not guilty' and depending on your jurisdiction you may not ever have to step foot in a courthouse. If you can't find instructions, just give them a call and ask. If your nice to the people answering the phones they will be more than helpful in getting you the correct forms and explaining the process.
The beauty of the police and court system being understaffed and overworked is that your case will likely be dismissed because either: 1) the officer didn't complete his/her paperwork correctly, 2) the officer didn't submit his/her response to your not guilty plea on time, or 3) the judge knows he doesn't have the budget to schedule a trial so he dismisses the case or reduces your ticket amount.
If none of these occur, you will still be given the option to go to court and make your case to a judge. If you can afford the time off work, then by all means go there and just hope that the ticketing officer doesn't show up. Most likely, your city/county doesn't have the budget to send their cops to testify in court for minor traffic infractions because they are all out writing more tickets.
Linsey, I appreciate your comments. As someone else who has played by the rules, having purchased my home more than seven years ago, never having missed a payment or even been late on a payment, and having watched the value of my home plummet (yes, after seven years, it's worth less than I paid for it), it is too easy to get caught up in being angry. The fact is that I did make an agreement, and my payments haven't changed. I do believe in karma, even if other people thing I may be naive. Yes, I will be rewarded int he knowledge that I have paid my debt, kept my honor, and kept my good credit in tact. Thank you, again, for your comments.
Thanks, Marla -- your husband and I have the same 'go-to' phrase. Had a few rebuffs myself so-far this summer, but can usually just shrug them off and try again somewhere else. :)
As a college professor one of the biggest money wasters I see are students who drop courses and take them over and over because they find a professor boring or a course too much work. I tell students, "Stick it out! You don't want to tell people that getting your four year degree was six of the best years of your life." Too many students waste time and money 'professor shopping' --looking for the easiest courses. Spending too long getting the degree also looks really bad on a resume.
As a college professor I hate seeing the price of books go higher and higher every year. Part of the cost is all the pretty colors and pictures. Much of the costs are related to all the bells and whistles that go with the text--CD study guides, instructor manuals, PowerPoint slides for instructors. If the texts were basic-not many graphics and a basic softcover study guide--the cost would be less.
When a new edition of a text comes out, professors are required to use it. We do not have an option. The publishers do not sell the old editions any more.
My recommendations for when students ask me if they can use an old edition of a text:
1. I am required to use the newest edition. All test/quiz items will be based on the edition that is listed in the syllabus.
2. Look at the table of contents in both new and old editions. See if there are any major changes--chapters added/deleted, chapters rearranged.
3. Look at the preface of the new edition. Many new editions list the changes from the old edition.
4. At least get the paperback study guide for the new edition. You can see the individual chapter objectives. If you can answer the practice questions in the new study guide based on the old text chances are you will be OK with the older text.
5. Texts that are in higher editions--8th/9th edition tend to have fewer changes than newer editions. New editions come out about every three or four years and, frankly, authors tend to get complacent after the first few editions.
In an earlier post you mentioned useing beano in the mix while ferminting. I have checked several stores in my are and one one carries this any more. May I use the pill form in the mix useing one or two pills??? Thank you for all your help.
This article is full of bad reasoning and bad advice. Many ETF's have lower ongoing management fees/expenses than most mutual funds. The buy/sell commission of maybe $5 to $10 is high if you're buying $500 worth at a time. But I don't think that's "most people." If you're a buy and hold person, and buy in chunks greater than $1000 the lower expense loads far outweigh the commissions.
Stay away from ETF's because they're popular and icky people partake? Well then, you better stay off the internet and stop using currency also.
This is the best site to take advice nd it help to solve ur saving problums nd give u different ideas for using cradit card nd take all the info about cradit card.The above statement is seen to be contradictory. The situation isvery critical and need an experience complainer to resolve it
You remember how you hear that phrase "There's a sucker born every minute" well, there is and there are always people who want to get something as cheap as possible. Sometimes, this is a good idea .. I buy clothes, CD's and books at yard sales, for example. But when it comes to expensive items like a camera, I will only buy from a reputable, well-established company. I especially avoid ANY company which is located in New York or when I call their customer lines hear a voice with some kind of an accent, New Yorker, Arab, Jew, Spook or dot-head Paki. For sure, I might spend a little bit more money for something I want, but I will be spending that money with someone who is a red-blooded true-blue White American. Yep, Always shop White Power. ANyway, I hope this finds you all well and waiting patiently for The Arrival of the Day of The Rope. Remember, that you must choose WHICH end of the Rope will be yours.
Excellent information! I agree, it's very important that we become proactive in encouraging and promoting the benefits and advantages of a 401k plan to employees. Doing it in split sessions based on age is a very intuitive and strategic idea...kudos
Come on guys, let's not be so nitpicky here. 10% is still 10%, whether you buy it online or not. That's nothing to sneeze at!
And for Dell, that's why the article said "Up to 30%"
This is a membership that's supposed to help you with car trouble...but you get all this extra stuff thrown in. Let's have a little perspective.

The Kohl's discount is online only too. This article is really misleading.
According to the AAA website, the 10 percent off at Target is for online purchases only.
So, if I join AAA which I am thinking about any way. I can show my card at Target and get 10% off every in store purchase? That's AWESOME
You've done a nice work with this interesting article. :)
I might unsubscribe to this website after reading this article.

Thanks for the compilation. This is one thing that parents should know just in case of emergencies.

I hope not :) Sour cherries are my favorite, too!
Oh, sour. 100%. I LOVE me some sour cherries. Is that indicative of anything about my personality?
