I would add about half to my savings fund and use the rest to pay for some of my blogging expenses - like site hosting, design and more. I would basically use it to invest in myself!
No, I'm just about done with my shopping. I've been stuck home in a snowstorm for the last four days and had plenty of time to shop online! If i did shop on Black Friday, it would be on my computer. I went out once, saw the lines all the way to the back of the stores, and turned around and left. Not worth it to me.
OOps! I missed #2 on your list. I lost my glasses and I am sticking to that story.
Double negatives also irk me.
Me and him--improper pronouns like between you and I.
In speech "you know...you know...you know"
Using "there" at the beginning of a sentence followed by am improper verb form ie There is two things I like.
Amount verses number. Number refers to things one can count; amount refers to things you cannot. The number of cards I received was wonderful. The amount of milk I drank was small.
Recipe cards. I use them as postcard thank you notes, tape them onto plastic storage boxes with the contents clearly labeled, stabilizers for wobbly furniture, memorization cues, bookmarks (I write the name, author, and a short summary of the book which I will give to people who ask me to recommend a book), at work for notes to children with encouraging words or a pleasant comment, and also for when I had to speak to a child, his parents, a counselor, etc.
For example, "Please call Joe or myself to discuss." or "He and myself are the lead on this". I'm in government and military industry and I bet I hear it every day.
Yes! I enjoy going out for a bit with my family, and sometimes track down deals online as well. No arm wrestling or waiting for hours in line, but I do enjoy being out that day.
Thank you! I am also in Property Management and our residents will not pass an inspection if they use toothpaste and will be charged an additional fee for the cleaning and refilling of any holes where toothpaste is used. It is an awful mess to try to paint over.
I will definitely not be shopping on Black Friday. I love a deal but I've noticed that the month of December offers up plenty! I will try to get out on Small Business Saturday, though.
Nice to think of the postal worker and garbage man but what about school bus driver that gets your most precious commodity, your child(ren,) back and forth to school everyday? The majority have no idea what a little acknowledgement of appreciation means in another mostly unappreciated service position.
Agreed! I'm in the same boat as far as work goes. I buy about half of my clothes new still, but I love going to thrift stores because I find a great variety of items from different companies and retailers that I may not buy from otherwise.
Add a small cute or colorful lamp on a counter or top of the fridge. It will provide soft light in the evening after dinner & add visual interest to the area.
No way. I am going to relax at home. The traffic is crazy and there are too many people in the stores, and I don't think the sales are that good anyway. I will be shopping on Small Business Saturday, however. I would rather patronize small businesses.
I recently had a very negative experience in a random search at the gate in a major international airport. I have written a letter to both the CEO of the airline, and the CEO of the airport, but am having trouble getting authentic emails for both. Any suggestions?
plenty of firewood too. having the firewood ahead of time is a great idea. I remember in the October snowstorm 2011 my family had plenty of firewood ahead of time.
Great article- but the common denominator in the whole thing is "YOU".. You are the one who married the spouse who is bad with money, got one too many pets, got a cleaning lady 'cause you were lazy/couldn't find the time to clean, can't say no to your rich friends when they want to go to fancy restaurants, etc. etc.
It seems so simple but one of the biggest things I would recommend to save money is to automate payments into your savings account the first day you get paid. By taking this money out of your account psychologically you can see that you have less, which I have found makes me want to be more frugal!
Great points, in a way Ajay is right but it is all about investing smart. Having your money work for you is the key. I think that investing in Real Estate is a solid place to be. Investing smart can have huge returns in the long term. Many people tend to invest to get rich quick. Investing in my view is a slow and smart process. Great read thanks.
#3 definitely when you're hosting, which we do every year. A couple things that we do is make 2 turkeys, one a day before which we carve up and put into plastic bags for leftovers for family members to take home for the weekend. The second one we cook up that day and serve at dinner.
Also, we prep all our vegetables the night before and put them in pots with water and then store them in the walkout of the basement where it's nice and cool. This year I'm trying something different - cooking the potatoes and turnip the day before and then putting them in crockpots on Thanksgiving morning to heat up. I'm hoping this will save some time and stress with having these items ready to go.
If I won the $1000 grand prize in Hedgeable’s Wise Bread giveaway this holiday season I would pay down debt.

How about lose vs. loose?
Not only ... but also?

I will not be shopping in the stores on Black Friday, but I might do some online shopping!
I won't go shopping in the stores, but I'll probably check out some deals online.

Hi Guest!
I'm so glad someone is in on the joke.

We took the decision to live on one income when our eldest child was born ten years ago
