Wow, what an amazing giveaway! If I won the $1,000 Amazon gift card I would buy a high quality food dehydrator I have been wanting for a long time. I'd also buy some food items that can be expensive, such as nuts and seeds. I would buy a few books and some emergency preparedness items. And then I would give the rest, probably about $400 to one of my favorite non-profits, such as The Cookbook Project or the Rape Recovery Center (in Utah), to use for needed supplies.
Changing to a protein heavy diet has slayed my appetite as well, so reading the article near the top served as vindication for me. All the other ones will make for some great weekend reading ... thanks!
I buy everything on Amazon! I would use it to buy Christmas gifts, but I also love Amazon's subscribe and save program, so I would use it to buy normal items throughout the year and ease my budget.
Answering the Wise Bread question: If I won $1000, I'd use it to buy Christmas presents for my family and I'd also use part of it to buy food and toys for a local pet rescue shelter.
If I were to win, I would use the $1000 to buy my kids a game console like a xbox. I would use the rest towards buying new tires for my car.

to answer the question from Hedgeable's Wise Bread giveaway, if i won, i'd use the money to buy a flight to see my mom in Oregon. i haven't seen my own mom in 4 years. that's so depressing. she's the only parent i have left. life is too short to not see family.
If I won, I would buy my husband a new laptop, and then take advantage of some of the grocery deals for our family's holiday gathering.
I would get my car fixed and if any money left over eat out with friends.
Our car was stole and it is getting way to cold for biking...down payment on a new to us car.

I had the same thoughts. Not as clear minded as the above post, but I don't have a tax write-off for my house. Don't pay enough interest.
