I live in a single family home now and I have kept a garden in the army, college, and graduate school. The kids help and it is a fun thing to do on the weekend with very little work during the week (if you set up watering on a timer or drip hose). We grow and can or dehydrate veggies and fruits (freeze some too), and save a lot of money while avoiding pesticides and inorganic fertilizer. We use kitchen waste (veggie cuttings, coffee grounds, egg shells) and leaves as compost. It seems labor intensive, and it is the first season, but quickly becomes routine.

While I agree with you that a Roth IRA is a good alternative to the traditional "emergency fund", somehow I still believe that an emergency fund should be readily available, even if I don't earn any interest.
Let's say it's Friday afternoon and you need to use that emergency fund. With the Roth IRA, I need to wait until Monday morning to liquidate my investments, then wait three days for the funds to settle (although you could pay a small fee to do a prepay), then complete the withdraw process, which will take additional time.
An emergency fund is just a small amount of money, 3 months or 6 months worth of your pay (I understand that can be sizable if you have a high income, but that also means you have bigger investments somewhere else). It's ok to leave it in cash and have it readily available in my opinion.
Since I am hair stylist I immediately don't want to believe anything in this article because you said Dollar Store shampoo works the same as salon shampoos. Thats absolutely ridiculous. It may work for certain hair types, but try to wash my hair with that crap and see if you can make it straight and not frizzy. You cant.
I might have missed it but I stopped all my magazine subscriptions and read them at my library now. If there is an article I want to keep I scan it into a corresponding folder on my computer. I rarely print anything as that uses paper and ink.
I only recently got a smartphone so there used to be large chunks of the day when I would be totally disconnected. It actually became a problem because people expect a near immediate response (meaning within an hour or two, half a day at the most). I missed out on one too many last minute and quick turn around opportunities before upgrading to the smartphone and making sure my alerts were ON!
"Buy Experiences Instead of Things" - This is SO important. We all spend so much money on stuff, but we always just want more stuff. Its a never ending cycle of spending to maintain a certain level of "supposed" happiness when we get the shiny new thing.
Luckily for me, I realised a few years back that this was rubbish and have managed to prioritise experiences over stuff. In fact, we have two lines in our budget saying that. The "experience" line gets a lot of leeway. However, every penny spent on "stuff" in analysed and reduced where possible.
I am very happy to say that my husband and I no longer do ANY of these! Of course it wasn't always that way but we learned that those things never work and seldom make us happy! Probably the one thing I would add is that along the way we learned that money is seldom the solution to creating more happiness. Once you have your basics covered and a little extra, the freedom, time, and ability to pursue my passions is what really makes a person feel rich and "financially savvy!"

Jada...great job on starting young. High schools should offer (or require) a class on being financially responsible when it comes to credit cards, debt, banks vs. credit unions, etc. Consider yourself ahead of the curve.

(It was only possible then because the court just now requires electronic filing so it's really the first time that it is easy to access that information). Anyway, I'm only doing it because I want to but I figured I would eventually get some income from it. Is there some rule of thumb about when you might expect to generate some money? That is, should I give it a certain time period before reaching out to potential advertisers? Reach a certain number of views? My target audience isn't that huge and I'm not in a hurry.
