Nice Post!! There are many ways to save money throughout the year. I think that the 52 week challenge will result positively with a good discipline. Thanks for sharing.
Cooking adds a new flavour to life. it is the best past time activity to practice. But while practising the process you can slip off from your budget. These are great posts to save many bucks in our pocket. Thanks for sharing.
I make a list. As I buy things, I also list the food items I can make with the ingredients I buy. I put that on the fridge when I get home. It keeps me from wasting food.
Betsey: we're retired, and cleaned out hubby's stuff and mine, we declutter and go thru clothes end of summer and end of winter knowing they won't be worn again for various reasons. Your ideas of dressy clothes I will follow likewise, neutral bottoms and several tops for cold and warm seasons. Moths: I own polyester everything, some cotton capri pants for summer, poly running shirts in every color I like, and several pairs jogging shoes. Use dryer sheet in closets in various places to repel insects.
The food at Disney World is so terrible its actually shocking. They have 3-4 "restaurants" inside the park and they all serve the same few cafeteria-style food items. Hot dogs and chicken strips which are barely edible. Bring your own food!!
Check your receipt before you leave the store. Make sure all your coupons scanned, sale prices registered correctly, etc. The database doesn't always match the shelf price. More than once I've been charged for an expensive produce item that wasn't what I bought at all (ex: Chinese long beans vs. regular old green beans).
You'd be surprised--or maybe you wouldn't--at how often you get charged several dollars more than you should have.
Yes,
You forgot my job. A dental assistant. Dentist are more likely to commit suicide, (I know one personally who did) hearing time after time how people hate going to the dentist. All these negative comments every day all day makes "me" depressed. The dentist gets in a bad mood then takes it out on his staff ( or in my case me) they yell and throw instruments. The pay is low and all you do is hold a suction and suck up spit sitting in a chair twisting your body in contortions to "assist" the dentist who makes it impossible to see what you are supposed to do. He can see in the patients mouth just fine. He will make sure of that, trust me, you will then go home with back and neck problems, you will eventually need to see a chiropractor, a therapist, and probably get carpal tunnel syndrome.
Planning ahead! I do an assessment every weekend of what meals I will need to make (e.g., sometimes I'll have a lunch meeting at work so I know I won't have to bring lunch that day) and then I think about what I want to cook. I then make a list so when I go to the grocery store I know exactly what I need and don't end up throwing things in the cart that will go to waste.
I agree with Olivia. It is possible to have a washer/dryer in a tiny home and you can certainly entertain. They have more room than you can imagine due to well placed stairs and other areas for storage and can appear quite spacious. Tiny house dwellers are very creative on storage. One must rid themselves of "stuff" & material objects. Yes, you can keep a few mementos, but you find you don't "need" or "miss" the stuff you once thought you needed to have a home. You also don't "need" the closets full of clothes/shoes you never wear. I for one love it and wouldn't go back to my other life if you paid me. I live where it gets a good amount of snow and find it makes my home more comfy. The carbon footprint you have leaves less impact on the environment. Things ARE much less expensive in a tiny home.
One thing I've learned is to be realistic about the amount of fresh veggies I can eat, and only buy what I'm sure I won't waste! I'm sure this saves a lot of money - and frustration!
One tip that works for me is to shop early Monday morning, after the weekend. That is when my grocery store discounts the meat they stocked for the weekend! Also at least try the store brand of an item. Many times, especially if you are making a casserole, you won't notice the difference between the big name brands and the store brand.
Costco is good if one is buying bulk items for less although it does not have a more complete selection than other stores - Superstore, Petes, and even WalMart have more and also a hairdresser in the last one and I wonder if many people are even in any way saving from the point club there based on what they buy. It has some good meats and cheeses (especially fish, chicken and beef)
Its also good for the optical centre and since I wear glasses it has a use for me there although I bought some pretty good stylish frames also there aswell - two Carrera aswell as my shades which I got made for me though I hardly ever use them
It is good for certain household products although not likely appliances where another store would be better like Home Depot, Sears or Kent. It can be variable on fruit and vegetable products although a grocery store is likely to have fresher as the ones in the warehouse are packaged. Also good for light house things
I make a meal plan before shopping and buy just what I need
I pay 709 in tent plus utilities. I'm happy with our arrangement.

I think if you've got 7 out of 10, you're doing great!
I always make a shopping list so I don't forget anything and have to go back.

I use coupons and cash back sites like Ibotta when I shop
I would think most telemarketing jobs would be tough to do as well.
Shop the sales and stock up when you have coupons to go along with it and plan your meals around your sale purchases.

I stick to my shopping list.

Stack coupons with sales to maximize savings
I use my grocery store's web site to view the sale ads, and I'm able to click on the items I want to make my shopping list.

Basically it's the inside of the top of the jar. One that has a groove inside of it!
