Kids have nothing to do with it. Its about priorities. Your kids will be happier than you realize if you make time for them, not just but them things. Food for thought.
House cleaner could be on this list. Employers promise flexibility but do not deliver! Often, parents work overtime and miss being available for the family when bosses over-book clients and other employees call-off. Also, it is very physically demanding, low-paying and the customers rarely have anything positive to say about the cleaning. Mostly, they complain in an effort to get free or discounted services on their next visits. Very shady indeed!
Time to stop subsidizing electric vehicles, people that can afford a $90,000 Tesla, don't need my tax money to help them enjoy the ride. Electrics and hybrids have a good track record, but if they can't appeal to consumers without incentives, too bad. They need to be competetive with gasoline powered vehicles.
Newspaper Carriers.
This is not even a job. You are a private contractor. Responsible for your own vehicle, insurance, fuel, maintenance, healthcare and taxes. As well as paying the Newspaper rent on a place to fold your papers and purchasing all necessary supplies such as rubber bands, plastic bags etc. All for a measly payment of .10 -.25 cents per customer.
When the paper runs late for any reason such as weather or even sporting events (posting final scores). You can be charged up to $2.00 per complaining customer.
There is no such thing as vacation or a sick day. You and you alone are responsible for delivery of those papers. Seven days a week 365 days per year. You must prearranged someone to cover your route then train them and pay them in the event you might get sick or want to go somewhere. That is if you are lucky enough to find someone. In the event you are seriously ill or incapacitated. You will be considered in breach of contract. Whereas you will be terminated and must forfeit your final paycheck to cover all the fines you will be levied.
In my case I did it for two years. I was unlucky enough to have a rural route where some of my customers where miles apart and seperated by poorly kept streets or non exsistant roads or house numbers. Most rural carriers need to replace there vehicles once a year do to wear and tear. You can't get by with an economy car either because the Sunday or holiday papers can be huge. The average route is between 250 - 300 papers an average monday you can fold all the papers in a laundry basket on your front seat. However one Thanksgiving the papers weighed over 6 pounds each. 300 X 6 = 1800 pounds enough to fill a truck bed. Sunday papers are so big that most people give up their Saturday afternoons to prefold all the inserts so that when the front section is printed you won't need to spend 2 hours folding them and make you late.
Now the worst part of all is the fact that the customer base is quickly declining due to the internet and social media. Let alone the high cost of fuel. I calculated in my case that when the cost of gasoline reached $3.00 per gallon I was no longer making a dime of profit. I was in effect paying them for the privilege to deliver their papers. Adding insult to injury you work nights and sleep days which is hard on any relationship.
Very nice tips! Cleaning is one of the hardest and tiring thing to do in your home. So, I think decluttering is one of the best idea to lessen the mess in your house. Interesting blog! I’ll recommend this to my friends. Two Thumbs up to the writer of this article!
I browse the meat section of my local Kroger for items a couple days away from the "freeze by/sell by date." And ask for the markdown price ahead of what it says on the package. I have tried this in a couple stores, never got a "NO"(and sometimes you can talk them down on prices.) Also if you ask they will season your meat for you. It really speeds up the dinner cooking processq
My worst job was bookkeeper for a crooked car dealer, in a small town where there weren't other jobs to apply for. He cheated his salesmen, he cheated his customers, and even his accountant warned me to be careful not to get caught in the middle when it all came home to roost. My books kept coming up short and I would stay late to balance them, couldn't figure out where the money was going. Finally he fired me for 'bad performance' and I learned from another worker that he had been keeping two sets of books, one that he jerry-rigged to get me fired, and another set with the lady he hired to replace me. It was a great source of satisfaction to me that he lost his dealer license not long after I left - and I was grateful not to be involved when the business collapsed. Whew!
I had a king size bed listed .
The scammer asked for my name and address to send the certified check .
He said he was a missionary .
Now they've got my name and address
I love kids and babysat all through high school and college. While in graduate school I had every morning free so I took a job at a small day care center. Big difference! I did not enjoy the parents who brought their babies in as early as possible (6am), in their pajamas, unfed, dirty diapers and all. Some of these people did have to go directly to work but others just wanted 1-2 hours to themselves before needing to be at work at 8-9am.
My summer stint as a receptionist for a dentist whose mom was the office manager was the worst job I have ever had. The dentist who hired and trained me was very kind. His mother was another story. She was obsessed with clorox bleach. Would "disinfect" the whole office every day. The smell was beyond overpowering. Mrs. Dental/Mental was also convinced every attractive woman was after her precious son. I tried to do a good job answering the phone, scheduling the appointments, and making sure she didn't bleach the money (Both the dentist and I caught her many times staring at the safe talking about about all the dangerous germs sitting on dollar bills while holding her ubiquitous clorox spray bottle). And of course, I also had to make sure never to look at my boss directly in the face in his Mommy's presence for fear that she would go full frontal paranoid on me. I quit after 3 months even though I needed the money very badly. My boss was nice, gave me 3 days wages and said, "I know, my mom is difficult." I didn't say anything. I was very young.
I can't decide if it's worse to work for actual families or places where everyone goes around grinning and saying, "We're like FAMILY here!"
Either way, the "family" is profoundly dysfunctional, and you're at the bottom of the heap either because you're the new person OR because you're not REALLY family.
Curious - I use hotspot data from my cell phone to work while I'm away from home. This is a HUGE chunk of change each month (nearly $200!) do you see any issue with writing this off?
The monthly bills are there, the breakdown of my phone from the rest of the family - my data is high, I pay for 12 gb and use more each month.
This will probably save me my EIC if I'm able to write that off, so I'm curious to what you say.

How about state income and sales tax?

Entry level yes, a lot of school, yes.
Great!! Nice deals as jump starters for the vehicle to solve any complicated problems. We should have them as our emergency kit. Thanks for sharing.
Lunch monitor in a elementary school.

My worst job was working in the deli department when I was a teenager. I ended up with pink eye.
Retail... Long hours, rude customers, and competitive colleagues (we worked on commission).
Cleaning clogged toilets in a factory during my senior year in high school.
My worst job was in high school working at a pizza shop. I developed bad acne and my face was greasy all the time.
Working fast food & having to clean out the fryers!
My worst job was a temp job after college. It was minimum wage and I was constantly getting yelled at!

Oh I have to say that I have been very lucky and loved all my jobs! I cant even pick one that was the worst...as I enjoyed them all!
For more than two years, I was "Sales Service Coordinator" at a company that imported sunglasses and readers.
There were three brothers and two of their sons; their elderly mother; and their brother-in-law.
I got EXCORIATED on the regular for failing to send stock THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE.
Employees were FORBIDDEN to call it a "warehouse;" it was instead to be referred to as a "Distribution Center."
REALLY, guys? I think your clients would like to get their orders filled no matter WHAT you call it!
One time, while I was out at lunch, the car ahead of me on the gas line BACKED UP ONTO MY HOOD.
He had a big ol' dually, and I had a Firebird; I'm pretty sure he just didn't see me.
I called the police and then the job.
Nobody got hurt, and both vehicles were still driveable, and I got back to work maybe an hour or so late.
MY IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR MADE ME GO OUTSIDE WITH HER AND SHOW HER MY DAMAGED CAR.

NEVER AGAIN!

The worst was washing dishes at a diner.
