Here is the email from one of my experience while selling an ipad. She seemed genuine in initial emails. Unfortunately I provided her address but not my home address, instead I gave address of my office which is a secure building. But then after receiving this email and checking forums from you guys, I guess I could have been a potential victim. So, I just refused her. But not sure what to do with the check if I receive it.

"Good day, How are you doing today & i'm sorry for my late in
response... My husband just informed me that the payment has been sent
Via USPS and he included the shipment funds in the amount on the
check for the mover to come for the pick up. And you are to deduct
your money as agreed and additional $100 for keeping the item for me
and your running around and then give the rest balance to the mover
coming for the pick up, I hope i can trust you with my money? We have
some other items around your location needed for our new apartment
with the mover will be picking up everything together but pls i will
need your honest and trust and your updating to end up this
transaction..because this is our first time on the list. I will get
back to you with the tracking number to monitor the payment with the
mover information tomorrow morning so that you will know who will be
    coming for the pick up.
    Thanks and God bless
    Best Regard"

I keep a curated wish list through the year to keep track of things for sales. Usually if I wait long enough, about half the list will be removed when I decide I don't *really* want them. Sometimes I will share with friends but usually I prefer not to, I'm old enough to buy my own things :)

Food is always on my holiday wishlist. Gingerbread, cookies, breads, cakes, chocolates, and other holiday yummies. Everyone knows that's my preferred physical gift and I do buy it for myself.

  • 10 Depressing Jobs That Aren't Worth the Money   10 years 29 weeks ago

You forgot Caregiver. Lists as one of the highest rate of depression. Cleaning up after sick, elderly people who are not real happy seems noble, but they often suck the life right out of you and can be very demanding. Plus they tend to die after you get attached.

  • 10 Things to Look for Every Time You Visit a Thrift Store   10 years 29 weeks ago

I have been a thrifter my whole life. At this point there is nothing "store bought" in my closet.4947 I love thrifting at vacation spots and looking for cool things that may not be in my hometown...for instance, in Las Vegas there is a HUGE thrift store with an entire wall of formal dresses...many of which are custom made (think showgirls, female impersonators, etc...) Very unique and traffic stopping dresses for my hometown all priced at $6 each. I bought 5 of them, had them shipped home and still paid way less than I would have for one dress at home. My other suggestion? Many cities with a large hospital will have a thrift store nearby run by the volunteers for the hospital foundation. They use it as a fundraiser for the hospital. These thrift stores are primarily donated to by staff and spouses of the hospital. Think doctor's wives going through their wardrobe getting rid of all "last season" stuff! The one closest to me is about an hour away. My husband never understood my love for thrifting until I took him there at the end of a season....twice a year that thrift store has a bag sale to get rid of winter/summer clothes. You buy a bag and whatever you can fit into it is yours. I drug him to it for one of their bag sales and he had a blast. He got 2 full Micheal Kors suits, bunches of brand new shirts and a pair of New Balance sneakers for 5 bucks. Now he's as bad as me!!!

  • Do You Always Keep the Money You Find?   10 years 29 weeks ago

If you found money and you know it is not yours, the righteous thing to
do, is to try and find the owner, or turn it in to the store, so the person
who lost it can get it back, this is honesty on your part, and your rewards
will be noticed from high above, and who knows maybe you will be given
a reward from the person who lost it.

  • The 10 Biggest Myths About Investing   10 years 29 weeks ago

"Shares of the SPDR Gold Trust are down nearly 15% in the last three years."

I can't say I'm surprised about GLD sinking in particular. Paper gold GLD claims to be fully backed by physical gold bullion but yet it refuses to give retail investors the right to redeem for any of these ‘claimed’ gold bullion. This fact alone would mean GLD shares are nothing more than paper at the end of the day. Furthermore, GLD’s prospectus is chalk full of weasel clauses and legal loopholes that allows the fund to get away without the full physical gold backing. One good example of this is the clause that states GLD has no right to audit subcustodial gold holdings. To this day, I have not heard of a single good reason for the existence of this audit loophole. I’ve also verified the following to be true and welcome everyone else to do so:

"Did anyone try calling the GLD hotline at (866) 320 4053 in search of numerical details on GLD's insurance? The prospectus vaguely states "The Custodian maintains insurance with regard to its business on such terms and conditions as it considers appropriate which does not cover the full amount of gold held in custody." When I asked about how much of the gold was insured, the representative proceeded act as if he didn't know and said they were just the "marketing agent" for GLD. What kind of marketing agent would not know such basic information about a product they are marketing? It seems like they are deliberately hiding information from investors.

I remember there was a well documented visit by CNBC's Bob Pisani to GLD's gold vault. This visit was organized by GLD's management to prove the existence of GLD's gold but the gold bar held up by Mr. Pisani had the serial number ZJ6752 which did not appear on the most recent bar list at that time. It was later discovered that this "GLD" bar was actually owned by ETF Securities."
