Free movie rental from Hollywood Video

This deal is about as simple as they get. So grab a bag or two of your favorite popcorn, browse through the aisles of your local Hollywood Video and pick up a video rental on the house.

So, what's the catch? Well, there is one but it's a tiny one. All you have to do is sign up for the Hollywood Video newsletter, no big deal, and you get your coupon.

Coupon

Any restrictions? None that I can see. This was on my coupon:

This coupon is a one-time offer and is good for one free New Release DVD or Hollywood Film Library® movie rental.

The only slight niggle I had was installing the coupon printer, I'm no big fan of extra software. But it's a small gripe for a free movie. Enjoy.

Thanks for the informative post - it jives closely with the post i have on my blog today about getting FREE movie rentals all the time with the Redbox movie machines at mcdonalds:

So I don't go there any more. I was on their MVP program, paying about $15/mth for as many older new releases and really old movies I could watch. I don't have cable tv so this worked out great. Out of the blue one day they just closed all the stores near me, and now I'd have to drive so far to get to one, it's just not worth it. I miss my movies and even went to Blockbuster a few times when desperate :-)

Thanks to the other commenter for posting about redbox.

I think both HV and BB are feeling the pinch from RedBox and Netflix, which may explain the closure. Shame, I prefer HV to BB.

i too use to be a member of the MVP program at hollywood video, but we ended up quitting that. The redbox opened at the mcdonald's down the street, and since it was basically free, it didn't make sense for us to go all the way across town to get our movies.

On a side note, the HV is still open, however, they have now started using redbox like machines at our local cub foods grocery stores. So it looks like those little rental machines may be the future - instead of the pricey HV or BB strip mall type stores.

I use to go there all the time until they started all these promotions. I just want a movie, stop asking me all these questions. The girl was very nice and tried to explain they HAVE to say it all or get in trouble and even though most guests dont like it, they have to. She was written up because she didn't make 10 bundles. 10 candy bundles on a slow day sound stupid to me. Well anyways, i can understand why they are closing, i would rather do my stuff online and not have to be bothered with all the promotions.

I rented a video at Hollywood Video today and paid cash for the rental fee. I got home and the DVD was all scratched. I took it back within just a few minutes. There weren't any others of that title on the shelf - and they refused to refund my money.

I'll be writing the BBB about their dishonest policy if I don't get a refund when I call corporate.

If I go back there, I'll be sure to use a credit card so I'll have a little more power over the situation if it occurs again.
